My Best Friend
I have a friend,
The best of all I’ve ever known.
Through all of life she stood by me,
Through every rain and every storm.
She laughed and giggled with my whims
And journeyed with me in my dreams.
Next to God,
She’s the only one who knows
My all and my everything.
Always there to listen and understand,
She trusts and believes in me.
Through all my failures
She always sees the beauty
And the best in me,
Helping me learn
To have faith in myself.
Through all those times
I could never have withstood
All that life has put me through—
Yet not without my friend,
My very best friend.
In all the miseries I’ve known
She bore the heaviness and drain.
In streaming tears she breathed with me
In my darkest days.
She warmed and comforted me.
Though through all agony
I have been weak and frail,
Yet in silent whispers
She never ceases to remind me
Of God’s amazing grace
And of hope in hopelessness.
I have a friend,
The best of all I’ve ever had—
“My Heart,”
My wonderful friend,
My very best friend.
